Marillac is a community clinic providing high quality health care to uninsured Mesa County residents with low and moderate incomes.
Sponsored by Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health Systems, Marillac was founded by a group of dedicated healthcare professionals and community leaders in 1988. Over the years, the Clinic has grown into the strong and diverse organization it is today, serving thousands of Mesa County residents every year.

Alpine Bank, a major financial institution on the Western slope, will be the Presenting Sponsor of Edesia: A Palisade Culinary, Wine and Spirits Adventure, on Sunday, March 24 from 1-5 pm at Wine Country Inn in Palisade.
Remy Cointreau, the U.S. subsidiary of French giant The House of Remy Martin, will be the Title Sponsor of the event, which benefits Marillac Clinic.
"Alpine Bank's solid institutional position and philanthropy are well known in our communityas well as in our region, so their participation is a huge advantage," emphasizes Joe Scanlon, WCI General Manager and coordinator of Edesia.
"Remy Martin is the Rolls Royce of champagne, cognac and spirits in the world, so you might say we're in very good company."
Remy Cointreau was presenting sponsor last year and will be the exclusive spirits purveyorfor Edesia 2013. Best known for its award winning champagne cognacs, Remy Cointreau also produces a variety of other high-end beverage products. Remy Cointreau will showcase Piper-Sonoma brands of sparkling and still wines and The MaCallan premier Scotch malt whiskey.
Scanlon says the company plans to expand its participation this year, including bringing in the official Ambassador for The MaCallan who will be on hand, decked out in kilt and full regalia, to greet guests, explain the distilling process and attributes of the top-of-the-line single malt whiskey.
"Having him here will be a colorful attraction and a lot of fun," he adds.
Named for Edesia, the Roman goddess of fine food and wine, the event will feature food prepared by invited chefs and beverages poured by Remy Martin and Colorado wineries.
Benefiting Marillac Clinic, the food, wine and spirits expo offers several levels of sponsorship. Already on board for this year's event are these sponsors: The Daily Sentinel, KKCO-NBC 11 News, MSMBC Radio, FCI Construction, Shamrock Foods, Peczuh Printing Co., Absolute Prestige Limousine Service, Brainstorm Internet, Marillac Clinic, CAVE, the Palisade Chamber of Commerce and Wine Country Inn.
Restaurants and food vendors’ participation is by invitation only and is coordinated by Executive Chef Randy Jones and Restaurant Manager Tyler Thackaberry. On board so far are 626 on Rood, Caroline’s, the Tapestry Lounge, Smith Fork Ranch, Red Rose Café and many others.
Wineries' participation will be coordinated by Juliann Adams of the Palisade Chamber and Scanlon. The full listing will be available soon, but suffice to say most of the major players are on board again this year.
"Our guest vendors will present only their best because they are showcasing their own culinary skills, fine wines and spirits," Scanlon says.
He points out that the $65 price per person for a ticket is well below what similar expositions command. The organizers, who are donating goods and services, are hoping to raise significant funds for Marillac Clinic, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
"It is a great cause, and an enjoyable way to sample the best food and wine available. Last year we were happy to present Marillac Clinic a $16,000 check. Our first year, we raised $7,000. We would really love to present $25,000 to celebrate their anniversary," Scanlon says. "The clinic helps a lot of people who need medical care and have little or no insurance."
A popular feature of Edesia the past two years was the hourly food demonstrations by an invited celebrity chef. This year multiple chefs will alternate demonstrating their culinary skills in the downstairs and upstairs Club Rooms of the Vintner's House.
Live music is a popular feature of the event. To date, blues and pop singer Miss Emily and well-known Frank Sinatra impresario Randy Fosburgh have committed to perform.
